ASC Growth Study – Sample Letters

By admin | June 17, 2009

Dear State ASC Association Leaders,

We need your help. As you know, KNG Health Consulting recently released a study entitled An Analysis of Recent Growth of Ambulatory Surgical Centers. This study demonstrates the importance of ASCs in constraining the cost of health care. In particular, it shows that the savings that ASCs provide through more efficient care are true savings because ASC volume comes, by in large, from ASCs being a substitute for the more expensive HOPD setting. The study also refutes the criticism that ASCs create higher surgical volumes.

Of course, this information is critical in dispelling the misconception that ASCs lead to the over utilization of health care. And further is critical as our nation undertakes what promises to be a substantial over haul of the health care system.

We need your help in getting this information out there. To that end, the ASC Association is asking that your Association do 4 things.

  1. Include an item on the study in your news letter and on your website.
  2. Send a summary (Click here) of the study to key state legislators and regulators.
  3. Send a letter to the editor to papers in your state talking about the study in the context of health care reform.
    * Sample materials and the study summary here. For convenience all samples are attached in the same document.
  4. Share your successes with us by e-mailing or calling 703.836.8808. Thank you in advance for helping get the word out.
